    Hi everyone!

During the COVID-19 pandemic alone we’ve seen how the disease and response have disproportionately affected immigrant and refugee Texans in the workforce, in the health care they receive, and more recently, how quickly they are receiving vaccines. Now more than ever, we need good, disaggregated data that truly reflects our immigrant and refugee communities so they can receive the care they deserve.

Emgage Texas, Hope Clinic, and the Texas Data Quality Coalition invite you to join us on Thursday, April 1st at 6PM for an Immigrant and Refugee Health Equity Teach-In & Action!

After a brief teach-in where we listen to a few health narratives and discuss our policy solutions, we will move to action and call/email our Representatives and Senators in the Texas Legislature to support our bills - HB 1608 and SB 982.

All are welcome, but the focus of this event will be on immigrant and refugee Texans.

The Texas – Mexico border region is home to over 1.4 million Texans, making it a unique, dynamic area where various cultures come together and interrelate across geopolitical boundaries. The border region poses particular challenges to the U.S. health care system: It is one of the fastest-growing in the nation, with a majority Hispanic population, in addition to having lower educational attainment, lower-income status, higher rates of unemployment and poverty, and a significant shortage of health care providers.
During this public health summit, experts in food inequity, education, infectious diseases, and public policy will address the very specific challenges border cities face and will end with a call to (View Full Event Description Here: https://childrenatrisk.org/event/inequities-in-texas-border-communities-a-public-health-summit/)
